2014 is Primed for the Next Social Media Star

by Jame Moore

Yes, there were ‘Captains of Industry’ once. They lived in a time when industry had nothing to do with the internet or social media. Heck, Andrew Carnegie wouldn’t even know what Pinterest is, let alone how to actually use it to bring in money. What he did know, however, was his brand. Every big name in the world, from railroad magnate to oil magnate knew their industry. They understood their brand, how to market it to the people, and how to make the consumer like them so much that they were the only brand the people would use when it came to heating their home, building their home, traveling across the country, etcetera.

Today, to be a ‘star’, people must know the basic fact of life: In order to be the one most liked by the consumer, to increase ROI, and to build a brand larger than any of their competitors, they must find a way to use the World BeFirst Media Group-content Marketing-Wide Web and all its platforms and applications to market to every consumer out there.

Every single generation of business ‘stars’ have something they have to learn. In this world, that ‘something’ just happens to be quite a bit larger than it was long ago. Mobile applications, the use of banners and platforms that include everything from content to images to videos – the ever-changing landscape of the Internet is a place that can become extremely overbearing in a short amount of time.

Exploration has always been the key when it comes to our history, as well as the building of businesses. And exploration of the social media realm is best done by the explorers who have the background to get the job done right. These people are social media marketing/PR teams and they are the ones who businesses must lean on in order to build their brand into a well-known brand. Creativity has changed over the centuries, but having the ability to be the most creative in a colorful computer world is a necessity for small to mid-sized businesses.

This is a multibillion dollar industry in and of itself. Geniuses have come out of the woodwork to create new platforms that no one ever thought could possibly exist. And as the new ‘players’ come on to the scene each and every day, these once ‘impossible spectacular things’ have become old hat, allowing even more new technology to come forth.

Businesses must capitalize on everything in order to find that target audience and bring them into the company, allowing them to be an integral part of the expansion of the business. This is done by sharing information with others and buzzing loud and clear about why ‘your’ company is the ‘best’ company out there.

Jobs, Gates and Zuckerberg are the most well-known from this generation, but what social media/PR teams understand is that the next Gates is out there. They are on the edge of some new creation that will cause a business to increase productivity and ROI overnight. The social media/PR teams understand that the consumer wants more. Not only do they want the bargains and sales, they want the customer service that is elite. The social media/PR team also understands the fact that one negative review or statement can balloon into an out of control mess for a business that does not have time to watch the Internet 24/7.

The social media/PR team is that watchdog. Not only do they stop a remark from becoming a path to a ‘Closed’ sign, but they also run analytics to see what campaigns are working, what campaigns aren’t working and what the competitor is doing better than their own client.

America was built a long time ago, and built well. Although there were stepping stones, failures and successes back then, just as it is today, the foundation of business and industry was begun. Now, brands, logos, content, events, websites, blogs – the list is endless here – are the ‘package’ that must be used for business and industry to continue to grow.
